Minimum requirements:

• A minimum of 2500 hours total flying time.
• ICAO current and unrestricted ATPL. We do not accept Frozen ATPL unless held by a UAE citizen
• A minimum of 1500 hours on multi crew glass cockpit (1) JET aircraft or high performance military Jet. Preference will be given to those on B737NG/EFIS, B757/767 or B744
• Endorsed, unrestricted and current ICAO ATPL with either the B737NG/EFIS, B757/767 or B744
• Unrestricted, current Class 1 medical.
• Maximum age limit is 50 years old.
• English Language Fluency ( written and verbal ) Level 4 or above.
• In case of hours accumulated on flights with inflight relief, 75% of the total hours shall be counted towards the required minimums.

Etihad EY423 B773 returned to Manila, smoke in cabin

An Etihad Airways Boeing 777-300, registration A6-ETF performing flight EY-423 from Manila (Philippines) to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), was climbing out of Manila when the crew stopped the climb at FL260 reporting smoke in the cabin, requested vectors back to Manila and emergency services on standby. The aircraft dumped fuel on the way back and landed safely back on Manila's runway 24 about one hour after departure. Following landing the crew advised they could taxi to the apron, emergency services followed the aircraft to the stand.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 3:10 hours, then departed again and reached Abu Dhabi with a delay of 4.5 hours.

Etihad starts flights to Venice from 30OCT16

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will expand its services to Italy with a daily flight to Venice Marco Polo Airport.

The new service will begin from 30 October 2016 and be served by an Airbus A319, offering 16 seats in Business and 90 in Economy. Together with Alitalia, its codeshare and equity partner, Etihad Airways will offer 35 weekly flights in and out of Italy, including double daily services to Rome and Milan.

Etihad’s Venice flight will offer convenient travel times for guests travelling between the UAE and the Italian city. In addition, the new service will offer seamless connections through Abu Dhabi’s hub to the popular Australia routes of Sydney and Melbourne, as well as key destinations in the GCC, Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Northeast Asia.

Etihad Airways started flights to Milan in 2007 before Rome was added to the network in 2014, contributing to a strong trade relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Italy. Bilateral trade was valued at USD 6.14 billion in 2015 and the UAE Ministry of Economy has registered more than 90 Italian companies.

Kevin Knight, Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, said:

“Launching our service to Venice further supports a very popular passenger route between Italy, our Abu Dhabi hub and onwards throughout Etihad Airways’ growing network, as far afield as Australia. Together with our codeshare and equity partner Alitalia, we are also strengthening the significant trade relationship between Italy and the UAE.”

Alitalia currently operates the Venice to Abu Dhabi route in code share with Etihad Airways and has decided to redeploy its aircraft on its international network from the 2016 winter schedule.

Alitalia will codeshare on the new Etihad flight, maintaining access to Abu Dhabi and Etihad Airways’ global network for its Venice-based customers.

Etihad first time to China -Shanghai- with Dreamliner 789

Etihad Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner touched down in Shanghai this week from Abu Dhabi on its first flight into China.

The new Dreamliner features the airline’s next-generation business and economy class cabins, and will operate with 299 seats, 28 in Business class and 271 in economy, representing a 14 per cent capacity increase on the route.

Peter Baumgartner, chief executive officer of Etihad Airways, said: “Since launching flights between Shanghai and Abu Dhabi four years ago, we have experienced first-hand the huge growth of China’s outbound tourism market and enjoyed strong demand from both business and leisure travellers.”

“The decision to upgrade to the Boeing 787 reflects the importance of Shanghai and China to the airline. Shanghai is a modern metropolis and a global economic, financial, trading and shipping centre, which underlines its importance within Etihad Airways’ global network and supports the introduction of the new aircraft.”

Baumgartner added: “The new Boeing 787 services will help to support the increasing demand for outbound tourism from Shanghai and its surrounding cities in Eastern China. The lounge services passengers flying on the EY170 from Los Angeles to Abu Dhabi and beyond, a long-range 777-200 sat in its 8 first class seats and 40 business class seats as well as the airline partners’ premium level frequent fliers.

Etihad to increase flights between Abu Dhabi and NY/JFK with A380

Etihad Airways has announced plans to increase Airbus A380 service between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport in response to heightened demand from guests traveling between the two destinations.

Beginning on June 1, 2017, the airline will upgrade its second flight between Abu Dhabi and New York JFK to its award-winning A380 aircraft which features The Residence, the only three-room suite available in commercial airline operation, and its award-winning First Apartment cabins.

The new service will join the airline’s existing daily A380 service, replacing the current daily Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Etihad Airways first began welcoming guests on board its first A380 flight between New York JFK and Abu Dhabi in November 2015.

“The response we have received from Etihad Airways guests traveling between Abu Dhabi and New York since we launched the service nearly a decade ago has been phenomenal, and we are delighted to further expand our world-class product for all guests traveling to and from New York,” said Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ chief executive officer.

European Commission okays Etihad's role in Air Serbia's shareholding

The European Commission (EC) has completed an investigation into the role of Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) in the ownership and operations of Air Serbia (JU, Belgrade) with a positive ruling expected to be officially issued shortly.

Serbia's Novosti news service reports the EC has determined that effective control of Air Serbia does indeed rest with the Serbian state, which holds a majority 51% stake in the airline.

Etihad acquired a 49% stake in Jat Airways (JU, Belgrade) in August 2013 for USD 200 million. The carrier was subsequently revitalized and rebranded Air Serbia. 

Though it is only a candidate member for European Union membership, Serbia is still required to adhere to the bloc's laws and regulations among which is a requirement that no non-European entity may own more than 49% of a European airline. 

As such, the 2013 investment fell within the scope of a wider 2014 EC investigation into the extent of the role Etihad plays in the decision-making process of a number of European carriers including Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel), Alitalia (AZ, Rome Fiumicino), and Darwin Airline (F7, Lugano).

Τραυματίστηκαν συνολικά 31 επιβάτες και μέλη του πληρώματος - Στο βίντεο οι επιβάτες εμφανίζονται να προσεύχονται με τα χέρια στον αέρα καθώς το αεροσκάφος, ένα Airbus A330-200, συγκλονίζεται από τις αναταράξεις

Τη στιγμή που ένα αεροσκάφος της Etihad Airways συγκλονίζεται από τις αναταράξεις προκαλώντας τον πανικό ανάμεσα στους επιβάτες και το πλήρωμα κατέγραψε κάμερα κινητού τηλεφώνου.

Στο βίντεο οι επιβάτες εμφανίζονται να προσεύχονται με τα χέρια στον αέρα καθώς το αεροσκάφος, ένα Airbus A330-200, συγκλονίζεται από τις αναταράξεις.

Συνολικά από το περιστατικό που συνέβη 45 λεπτά πριν το αεροσκάφος να προσγειωθεί στο αεροδρόμιο του Σοκάρνο τραυματίστηκαν 31 επιβάτες και μέλη του πληρώματος. Εννέα μάλιστα χρειάστηκε να μεταφερθούν στο νοσοκομείο καθώς οι τραυματισμοί τους ήταν σοβαρότεροι.

Οι φωτογραφίες που είδαν το φως της δημοσιότητας δείχνουν τη βιαιότητα του περιστατικού με τα πάντα στην καμπίνα των επιβατών να έχουν αναποδογυρίσει ενώ ρωγμές έχουν σχηματιστεί στα ντουλάπια στα οποια οι επιβάτες τοποθετούν τις αποσκευές τους.

Flight EY474 from Abu Dhabi to Jakarta encountered severe and unexpected turbulence about 45 minutes before its arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the airline confirmed in a statement.

The A330-200 Airbus landed safely at the airport in Jakarta, where nine passengers were taken to hospital.

22 others have been released from the airport clinic after being treated by paramedics for minor injuries.

Cabin storage areas were also damaged as a result of the turbulence.

Twitter user @NasserRomaithy posted a photos of a hole in an overhead luggage bin and dangling oxygen masks that were purportedly taken by a passenger.

As a result of the incident, flight EY475 from Jakarta to Abu Dhabi on May 4 has been canceled.

Etihad Airways said it had deployed a support team on site and was assisting affected passengers by booking them onto alternative flights or providing hotel accommodation.

Η Etihad Airways άσκησε νέα αγωγή σε μια προσπάθεια να ανατρέψει την απόφαση του γερμανικού δικαστηρίου να ανακαλέσει την έγκριση για 29 πτήσεις κοινού κωδικού με την airberlin.


Πριν από λίγες εβδομάδες, το διοικητικό δικαστήριο του Braunschweig αποφάσισε ότι το Γερμανικό Υπουργείο Μεταφορών είχε το δικαίωμα να απορρίψει τις 29 πτήσεις κοινού κωδικού της Etihad Airways και της airberlin, οι οποίες είχαν εγκριθεί για τη λειτουργία τους μόνο έως τις 15 Ιανουαρίου του 2016.

Δεδομένου ότι το δικόγραφο της προσφυγής κατατέθηκε στο ανώτατο διοικητικό δικαστήριο του Lüneburg πριν από λίγες ημέρες, ο Πρόεδρος και Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος της Etihad Airways, James Hogan, επανέλαβε τη σταθερή υποστήριξη της αεροπορικής εταιρείας στην airberlin, λέγοντας ότι παραμένει προσηλωμένη στον γερμανικό αερομεταφορέα, στον ανταγωνισμό και στην επιλογή του καταναλωτή για τους γερμανικούς ταξιδιώτες.

«Με την airberlin, συνεργαζόμαστε για να εξασφαλίσουμε ότι κανένας ταξιδιώτης δεν θα επηρεαστεί από το αποτέλεσμα αυτής της διαμάχης και όλες οι κρατήσεις θα διεξαχθούν».

«Θα αγωνιστούμε για να προστατεύσουμε την επένδυσή μας, τη συνεργασία μας με airberlin και το ανταγωνιστικό μας πλεονέκτημα στα γερμανικά αεροπορικά ταξίδια».

Ο κ. Hogan εξέφρασε τη δέσμευση της Etihad Airways στην airberlin που ήταν σε πλήρη αντίθεση με την έλλειψη υποστήριξης του Γερμανικού Υπουργείου Μεταφορών, για μια περήφανη γερμανική αεροπορική εταιρεία.

Η Etihad Airways απέκτησε το 29,2 τοις εκατό των μετοχών της airberlin το 2011, ύστερα από ενθάρρυνση των γερμανικών περιφερειακών εκπροσώπων των εθνικών κυβερνήσεων. Οι αεροπορικές εταιρείες είχαν λάβει έγκριση για πτήσεις κοινού κωδικού σε συνολικά 63 αεροπορικές γραμμές, παρέχοντας στους Γερμανούς ταξιδιώτες νέες επιλογές σε προορισμούς σε όλο τον κόσμο. Το καλοκαίρι του 2014, το Γερμανικό Υπουργείο Μεταφορών είχε εγείρει ανησυχίες σχετικά με 29 πτήσεις κοινού κωδικού, κατόπιν άσκησης πιέσεως από την αεροπορική εταιρεία Lufthansa, και το Νοέμβριο του 2015 ενέκρινε τις 29 αυτές πτήσεις μόνο έως τις 15 Ιανουαρίου του 2016. Οι υπόλοιπες πτήσεις κοινού κωδικού παραμένουν ανεπηρέαστες.

Ο κ. Hogan δήλωσε: «Μαζί, η airberlin και η Etihad Airways, έχουν δημιουργήσει νέα ανταγωνιστική επιλογή για τους Γερμανούς ταξιδιώτες, βασίζονται σε υπηρεσίες πτήσεων κοινού κωδικού προς διεθνείς προορισμούς που έχουν λειτουργήσει για χρόνια χωρίς οποιεσδήποτε ανησυχίες, καθώς είναι ευνοϊκές για τον ανταγωνισμό και αυξάνουν τις επιλογές των καταναλωτών. Αυτό ήταν απολύτως σωστό, δεδομένου ότι πληρούν τους όρους συμφωνίας των αεροπορικών μεταφορών μεταξύ της Γερμανίας και των Ηνωμένων Αραβικών Εμιράτων – γεγονός που δεν επιβεβαιώνεται μόνο από τη δική μας νομική ομάδα εμπειρογνωμόνων και συμβούλων, αλλά και από τον πρώην Γενικό Διευθυντή της Πολιτικής Αεροπορίας της Γερμανίας».

«Τώρα, μετά από τέσσερα χρόνια επενδύοντας στη Γερμανία, έχοντας υποστηρίξει τις θέσεις εργασίας της airberlin, καθώς και τη δημιουργία δικών μας νέων θέσεων απασχόλησης στη Γερμανία, οι κανόνες αλλάζουν».

«Ως παγκόσμια επιχείρηση, έχουμε επικεντρωθεί στις επενδύσεις μας σε αγορές οι οποίες θα προσφέρουν μακροπρόθεσμες αποδόσεις. Το περιβάλλον μας ενθάρρυνε να επενδύσουν στην airberlin. Ωστόσο, από την  αρχική επένδυση που κάναμε, έχουμε αντιμετωπίσει μια σειρά σημαντικών προκλήσεων, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της εισαγωγής των φόρων αεροδρομίου, που μείωσαν άμεσα την κερδοφορία της airberlin».

«Άλλες αγορές, όπως η Αυστραλία, η Ινδία, η Ιταλία, η Σερβία και οι Σεϋχέλλες, έχουν δεχτεί και έχουν στηρίξει τις επενδύσεις μας. Ωστόσο, στη Γερμανία, η δέσμευσή μας εξακολουθεί να υπονομεύεται από τις προσπάθειες άσκησης πιέσεων προστατευτισμού και τις τακτικές της Lufthansa, τον εθνικό αερομεταφορέα».

«Αν η γερμανική κυβέρνηση δεν μπορεί να αποδείξει τη δέσμευσή της να υποστηρίζει όλες τις γερμανικές εταιρείες και τις γερμανικές θέσεις εργασίας, τη φήμη της ως ασφαλής χώρα για επενδύσεις, είναι σε κίνδυνο.

Οι επενδυτές χρειάζονται κάθε διαβεβαίωση ότι η ακεραιότητα των επενδύσεών τους στη Γερμανία θα είναι σεβαστή και θα προστατεύεται».

«Η Etihad Airways είναι όμως ένας επενδυτής σε μια βιομηχανία. Αλλά η εμπειρία μας θα χρησιμεύσει ως μια προειδοποίηση προς τους υπόλοιπους, όταν πρόκειται για τη λήψη των διεθνών επενδυτικών αποφάσεων».

ETIHAD last week has restored daily operation for Abu Dhabi – Istanbul Ataturk route, since 23DEC15. Previously the carrier was operating at a reduced frequency of 5 times a week. On Mondays and Wednesdays, this route is operated by Airbus A321 aircraft.
