Monarch ZB492 A321 diverted to London, hydraulic issue

A Monarch Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration G-ZBAD performing flight ZB-492 from Birmingham,EN (UK) to Alicante,SP (Spain), was enroute at FL300 about 50nm south of London Gatwick,EN (UK) when the crew decided to divert to London Gatwick. The aircraft landed safely on Gatwick's runway 08R about 45 minutes later.

A listener on frequency reported the crew declared PAN reporting a hydraulic issue.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration G-ZBAF reached Alicante with a delay of 5.5 hours.

WOW Air WW117 A321 at Baltimore, flock of birds on landing

A WOW Air Airbus A321-200, registration TF-MOM performing flight WW-117 from Keflavik (Iceland) to Baltimore,MD (USA), was on final approach to Baltimore's runway 32L when the crew reported a bird strike. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on the runway and taxied to the apron, the crew again reporting they had a bird strike causing a lot of noise. A runway inspection was performed but did not find any debris. While taxiing the crew detailed they had a bird strike on landing, they went through a flock of large birds, sized like geese, at least one of the engines (CFM56) was hit and was now vibrating. 

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Baltimore 6 days later.

ANA outlines new A321SL operational plans from 15NOV16

ANA - All Nippon Airways has outlined its provisional A321-200 (sl) operational plans ch-aviation analysis of schedule data has revealed.

Effective November 15, the first of four aircraft on order from Airbus Industrie will be deployed on flights to Hiroshima Int'l, Takamatsu, and Kagoshima from its Tokyo Haneda hub.

Thereafter, on November 17, a second aircraft of the type will begin Miyazaki and Hiroshima return flights with an additional Osaka Kansai service on Sundays.

Other destinations that will be added in December include: Oita, Saga, Okayama, Kumamoto, Komatsu, Yonago, Tokushima, and Kochi while in January, Osaka Itami and Matsuyama will be added.

ANA last operated the A321-200 in 2008 with seven aircraft of the type. Aside from the four A321ceo variants it is receiving, ANA also has twenty-six A321neo on order.

Airblue PA212 A321 returned to Islamabad, engine problem

An Airblue Airbus A321-200, registration AP-BMN performing flight PA-212 from Islamabad (Pakistan) to Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), was climbing out of Islamabad's runway 30 when the crew stopped the climb at about 10,000 feet due to a problem with one of the engines (CFM56) and returned to Islamabad for a safe landing on runway 30 about 30 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration AP-BMO reached Sharjah with a delay of 5.5 hours.

Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority reported the Shaheen Air's crew, flight PA-212, decided to return to Islamabad after noticing unusual smoke from one of the engines.

Swiss LX2111 A321 near Malaga, near collision with military aircraft

A Swiss International Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration HB-IOM performing flight LX-2111 from Malaga,SP (Spain) to Zurich (Switzerland), was cleared to climb to FL320 and was climbing through FL250 about 90nm northnortheast of Malaga when air traffic control instructed the flight to stop the climb at FL260 due to military traffic from their left.

A military aircraft was crossing the A321's flight track passing from the left to the right, initially maintaining FL270, however, before crossing the flight path of the A321 began a descent.

As result the A321 crew received a TCAS resolution advisory to descend which the crew complied with, after a descent of 500 feet another TCAS resolution advisory to reverse descent and climb now occurred, which the crew complied with too.

After being clear of conflict the A321 as well as the military aircraft continued to their destinations without further incidents.

Spain's CIAIAC opened an investigation into the occurrence reporting the minimum separation between the two aircraft reduced to 400 feet vertically and 0.4nm horizontally.

Delta A321 DL1827 diverted to Orlando, flaps problem

A Delta Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N308DN performing flight DL-1827 from Fort Lauderdale,FL to Atlanta,GA (USA), was climbing out of Fort Lauderdale when the crew stopped the climb at 11,000 feet reporting problems with the flaps and decided to divert to Orlando,FL (USA) advising the landing would be at a higher speed than normal and requested emergency services on standby. The aircraft landed safely on Orlando's runway 36L at a higher than normal speed (about 180 knots over ground), vacated the runway and stopped advising emergency services they had hot brakes above 600 degrees C at the left hand side still increasing temperature. The brakes fans were activated, the temperatures began to decrease and the aircraft was able to taxi to the apron.

Iberia Express IB3913 A321 returned to Palma Mallorca, engine shut down in flight

An Iberia Express Airbus A321-200, registration EC-JEJ performing flight IB-3913 from Palma Mallorca,SP to Madrid,SP (Spain), was climbing through FL200 out of Palma when the crew stopped the climb at about FL210 due to an engine (CFM56) failure. The aircraft returned to Palma Mallorca for a safe landing on runway 06L about 35 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 36 hours after landing.

Turkish TK1665 A321 returned to Istanbul, could not retract gear

A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration TC-JMH performing flight TK-1665 from Istanbul (Turkey) to Hamburg (Germany), was in the initial climb out of Ataturk Airport's runway 35L when the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet after being unable to retract the landing gear. The aircraft returned to Istanbul for a safe landing on Ataturk's runway 05 about 35 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported the captain announced that due to non retractable landing gear they would return to Istanbul. The aircraft had just come out of maintenance and probably a minor mistake during overhaul is the reason for the gear remaining down.

A replacement A321-200 registration TC-JRS reached Hamburg with a delay of 2.5 hours.

Lufthansa LH1290 A321 diverted to Frankfurt, cracked windshield

A Lufthansa Airbus A321-200, registration D-AISV performing flight LH-1290 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Bodrum (Turkey), was enroute at FL330 about 20nm north of Pristina (Kosovo) when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Munich (Germany) after the captain's windshield cracked. The aircraft climbed to FL340 for the return and landed safely in Munich about 90 minutes after turning around.

The passengers were taken to hotels.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration D-AIDT departed the following morning and reached Bodrum with a delay of 18 hours.

Swiss A321 returned to Copenhagen, engine #2 shut down in flight

A Swiss International Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration HB-ION performing flight LX-1267 from Copenhagen (Denmark) to Zurich (Switzerland), departed Copenhagen's runway 04R. Just when the aircraft rotated for becoming airborne the right hand engine began to emit a series of loud bangs and streaks of flames. The aircraft climbed out, at safe altitude the crew shut the engine down, stopped the climb at 7000 feet and returned to Copenhagen for a safe landing on runway 04L about 20 minutes after departure. The aircraft vacated the runway via a high speed turn off and stopped for an inspection by emergency services before continuing taxi to the apron.

A passenger reported a loud bang from the right hand side occurred just as the aircraft rotated for takeoff, the aircraft continued to climb, two more bangs occurred during the climb. The captain indicated an engine problem but rather ruled out a bird strike.

A ground observer reported the aircraft was just rotating for takeoff when a first loud bang occurred and the right hand engine emitted a streak of flame. The aircraft climbed out straight followed by several more bangs and streaks of flame, then received vectors for a return to Copenhagen. ATC kept the runways sterile and sent other arriving traffic into holds until the aircraft had safely landed.

Vueling A321 flight VY1867 at Stuttgart, rejected takeoff due to hot brakes

A Vueling Airbus A321-200, registration EC-MMU performing flight VY-1867 from Stuttgart (Germany) to Barcelona,SP (Spain), was accelerating for takeoff from Stuttgart's runway 25 with a delay of about 100 minutes when the crew rejected takeoff at low speed (about 60 knots over ground) reporting hot brakes. The aircraft slowed safely, vacated the runway, taxied along the taxiway parallel to the runway and stopped near the holding point runway 25 for about 20 minutes to permit the brakes cool down.

The aircraft was able to depart subsequently and reached Barcelona safely with a total delay of 130 minutes.

Atlasjet A321 flight 8Q807 returned to Antalya, fuel leak

An Atlasglobal Airbus A321-200 on behalf of Onur Air, registration TC-ATR performing flight 8Q-807 from Antalya (Turkey) to Paderborn (Germany), was climbing out of Antalya's runway 36R when passengers observed a fluid leaking out of one of the wings. The flight crew stopped the climb at about FL090, descended the aircraft to 4000 feet and entered a hold. The aircraft landed safely back on Antalya's runway 36R about 1:50 hours after departure.

Passengers reported there was fuel running over a wing. 

A replacement A321-200 registration TC-ATB departed the following day and reached Paderborn with a delay of 30 hours.

The airline did not comment.

Aeroflot received 4 new Airbus A321

The airliners are designed in a new enhanced two class composition with 16 seats in business and 167 in economy. All A321 aircraft family are delivered to Aeroflot directly from the manufacturing plant in Hamburg. Aeroflot operates А321 aircraft across its European and domestic routes network.

Aeroflot has taken delivery of four new A321s equipped with aerodynamic wing-tips known as Sharklets.

All A321 aircraft are named in honour of outstanding Russian people who contributed a lot to artistic, cultural and scientific development. 

VP-BAE bears the name of Sergei Bondarchuk, a Russian film director, screenwriter and actor. 

VP-BKI has been named Dmitry Ryabushinsky, a Russian scientist specialising in hydro and aero dynamics.

The other two VP-BJX and VP-BEW got the names of famous writers Ivan Goncharov and Mikhail Zoshchenko respectively.

Brand new B737-800 M.Vrubel joins Aeroflot fleet
Aeroflot has taken delivery of a new B737-800 aircraft made by Boeing. The plane is named in honour of Mikhail Vrubel, an outstanding Russian painter.

Aeroflot’s Boeing 737-800 has two-class composition with 20 seats in business class and 138 seats in economy class. The Business class salon is equipped with monitors for viewing media content. All Boeing B737-800 aircraft are delivered to Aeroflot directly from the manufacturer. Thomas Cook A321 flight MT3496 returned to Glasgow, bird strike

A Thomas Cook Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration G-TCDN performing flight MT-3496 from Glasgow,SC (UK) to Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) with 197 passengers and 8 crew, was climbing out of Glasgow's runway 23 when the crew stopped the climb at FL150 following a bird strike into one of the engines (CFM56). The aircraft returned to Glasgow for a safe landing on runway 23 about 40 minutes after departure.

A replacement A321-200 registration G-TCDZ reached Palma Mallorca with a delay of 2.5 hours.

The airline confirmed a bird strike into one of the engines shortly after takeoff. 

Passengers reported there was a loud noise shortly after the aircraft became airborne followed by vibrations.
