Mid-Year Traffic Up 10% at Orlando International Airport - Second busiest airport in Florida

ORLANDO, FL. – Through the first half of 2016, Orlando International Airport (MCO) has seen an overall increase of 10 percent in passenger traffic.

The 10 percent increase pushes overall traffic volume on a rolling 12-month basis up to 40,774,565, a new record.

“We have been fortunate to experience double-digit growth through the ups and downs of 2016, which says a lot about the resiliency of this market and what it has to offer global business and leisure travelers,” says Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

First Half 2016 Statistical Data:

• International traffic climbed nearly 15 percent with 2,755,837 total travelers
• Domestic passenger traffic was up 9.4 percent with 18,708,237 moving through MCO
• Combined traffic was up 10.08 percent with 21,464,074 passengers at Orlando International Airport

June 2016 Statistical Data:

• International passenger traffic was up 10.41 percent with a total of 419,613 international travelers
• Domestic traffic moved upward with an 8.94 percent increase and 3,088,919 passengers
• Overall traffic combined to reflect a 9.11 percent increase in June with a total of 3,508,532 passengers

Increased seat capacity by a number of airlines serving MCO is one of the driving factors for the growth so far this year.
