An Ellinair Airbus A319-100, registration SX-EMB performing flight EL-920 from Thessaloniki (Greece) to Novosibirsk (Russia), was in the initial descent towards Novosibirsk about 20 minutes prior to landing when the captain started to feel unwell and soon after became unconscious. The first officer took control of the aircraft and continued for a safe landing on Novosibirsk's runway 07 about 20 minutes after the captain felt unwell. The captain was taken to a hospital.
Emergency services reported the captain suffered a stroke. The hospital later diagnosed a brain hemorrhage.
