An Egypt Air Boeing 777-200, registration SU-GBS performing flight MS-621 from Kuwait (Kuwait) to Cairo (Egypt) with 304 passengers, was enroute at FL380 over Saudi Arabia when an engine (PW4090) failed prompting the crew to secure the engine. The aircraft drifted down to FL240 and diverted to Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt) for a safe landing about 45 minutes later.
The remainder of the flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
The airline reported a technical failure prompted the precautionary diversion to Sharm el Sheikh
Sharm el Sheikh Airport reported the aircraft diverted due to an engine failure.
