Sunexpress Germany B738 at Dusseldorf on Jun 4th 2016, flaps problem



A Sunexpress Germany Boeing 737-800 on behalf of Eurowings, registration D-ASXC performing flight EW-1885 from Rome Fiumicino (Italy) to Dusseldorf (Germany), was on final approach to Dusseldorf's runway 05L when the aircraft went around from below 1000 feet AGL due to a flaps problem. The aircraft climbed back to 4000 feet MSL and entered a hold while the crew was troubleshooting the problem and preparing the aircraft for a landing at a higher than normal speed. The aircraft subsequently positioned for an approach to runway 23L and landed safely at a higher than normal speed (about 173 knots over ground) about 20 minutes after the go-around.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 5.5 hours before resuming service.
