Arabia Egypt A320 near Cairo on Jun 29th 2016, engine problem



An Air Arabia Egypt Airbus A320-200, registration SU-AAB performing flight E5-337 from Alexandria Borg (Egypt) to Ryiadh (Saudi Arabia) with 120 people on board, was climbing out of Alexandria when the crew stopped the climb at FL110 reporting problems with one of the engines (CFM56) and decided to divert to Cairo (Egypt) where the aircraft landed safely on runway 05C about 50 minutes after departure from Alexandria.

A replacement Air Arabia A320-200 registration A6-AOD was dispatched to Cairo, resumed the flight and reached Riyadh with a delay of 7.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Cairo about 35 hours after landing.
