An ANZ Air New Zealand Boeing 787-900, registration ZK-NZG performing flight NZ-103 from Auckland (New Zealand) to Sydney,NS (Australia), was climbing out of Auckland's runway 23L when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet reporting an electrical burning odour on board. The aircraft positioned for an immediate return to Auckland's runway 23L and landed safely about 12 minutes after departure.
The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
The occurrence aircraft resumed service about 13.5 hours after landing.
