TAP A343 at Maputo on Jun 23rd 2016, engine shut down in flight



A TAP Portugal Airbus A340-300, registration CS-TOC performing flight TP-282 from Maputo (Mozambique) to Lisbon (Portugal) with 200 people on board, was climbing through FL320 out of Maputo when the crew stopped the climb and descended the aircraft to FL280 reporting they needed to shut an engine (CFM56) down. The aircraft returned to Maputo and landed safely back about 70 minutes after departure.

The airline confirmed a technical fault with one of the engines. The passengers were taken to hotels and are estimated to depart for Lisbon the following day.
