Caraibes A333 at Paris on Jun 15th 2016, engine shut down in flight



An Air Caraibes Airbus A330-300, registration F-HPTP performing flight TX-540 from Paris Orly (France) to Pointe a Pitre (Guadeloupe) with 349 people on board, was climbing out of Orly's runway 24 when the crew stopped the climb at 3000 feet reporting a problem with the right hand engine (PW4168). The crew shut the engine down and returned to Orly for a safe landing on runway 24 about 25 minutes after departure.

The airline reported the passengers were taken to hotels while waiting for a replacement aircraft estimated to depart with a delay of 11 hours.

A HiFly Malta Airbus A340-300 registration 9H-SUN is currently on the ground in Orly preparing to depart as flight TX-5640 to Guadeloupe.
