Saudia Arabian Airlines launches SKYfi system

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) is the launch customer for a new IFE offering from KID-Systeme. The SKYfi Club wireless platform is being installed on its A320 and A330 fleets.

The system which allows passengers to access content such as movies, magazines and books from their own devices was installed on the first A330 mid Augiust.

The system  is part of the ‘Saudia SKYfi’ brand, which also features the capability for passengers and crew to make in-flight phone calls, browse the web, see their location and much more.
SKYfi is based on the Airline Network Architecture connectivity platform, which is currently installed on more than 650 aircraft with various airlines across the world.
Director general of the airline, Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, said: “We are very happy to continue working with KID-Systeme who has always been a reliable partner and supplier for our integrated cabin power systems.
“Offering wireless content streaming is the next step paving the way to an improved in-flight experience and satisfy passengers’ needs. Therefore we are very excited to cooperate with KID-Systeme to enlarge our in-flight entertainment selection. This opens up a whole new world of opportunities for the connected passenger on board.”
Peter Schetschine, general manager for Germany-based KID-Systeme described the deal as a groundbreaking milestone and said it was a proof of success for KID-Systeme.
“Equipped with an advanced inflight-mediatainment system, Saudia will underline their high technical standards and enrich passengers’ travel comfort and satisfaction with a unique and individual entertainment experience”, he said.
Saudia currently operates 23 A330s and 35 A320s.

Saudia Airlines will it operate 6 flights to bring home Saudis from Turkey

Jeddah — Saudi Arabian Airlines sent an urgent flight from Jeddah to Istanbul to bring home Saudi nationals from Turkey.

In a press statement Saudia urged all people who wish to return to the Kingdom to contact, from inside Saudi Arabia: 920022222 and from outside Saudi Arabia: 96265777766.

On Sunday another five flights will operate between Saudi Arabia and Turkey, with two flights between Jeddah and Istanbul and one between Riyadh-Istanbul, Madinah-Istanbul, Dammam-Istanbul.

SAUDIA confirmed that it will increase seat capacity to be able to meet the demand of citizens wishing to return, indicating that the number of weekly flights to Istanbul from Saudi is 34 flight, with a seat capacity of 17134.

Saudia B773 near Brussels on Jun 30th 2016, smoke in cabin

A Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration HZ-AK25 performing flight SV-116 (dep Jun 29th) from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) with 144 people on board and dangerous goods (mainly gasoline), was enroute at FL370 about 20nm south of Brussels (Belgium) when the crew decided to divert to Brussels reporting smoke in the cabin. The aircraft landed safely on Brussels' runway 25R about 23 minutes after leaving FL370 and taxied to the apron.

The airline reported a precautionary landing in Brussels due to smoke in cabin.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Brussels about 21 hours after landing.

Επιπλέον προσόντα όπως διπλώματα aviation – attestation, ειδικές γνώσεις διεθνών σχέσεων, γεωγραφίας ή άλλοι τίτλων σπουδών θα αξιολογηθούν ως επιπλέον προσόντα.

Saudia S16 Boeing 787 International Operation Changes as of 28DEC15 | Airline Route

   

Saudia has revised planned Boeing 787-9 introduction for International routes in summer 2016 season, which sees additional changes on/after 27AMR16. Based on last week’s schedule update, latest adjustment as follow.

Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) has pitched a two-class, high-density version of the A380-800 to Saudia (SV, Jeddah) as the European manufacturer attempts to find a new first time-buyer for the twin-deck quadjet in three years.

Fouad Attar, Airbus' Managing Director for the Middle East, told Bloomberg news in an interview that a 615-seat, two-class version of the A380 would be ideal to the Saudis given annual surges in demand for the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. A "handful" of such aircraft would help alleviate pressure on the kingdom's infrastructure, Attar said. Local authorities anticipate a ten-fold rise in year-round demand to 60 million people by 2018.

Emirates (EK, Dubai Int'l) recently deployed its own 615-seater A380 into commercial service on flights between Dubai Int'l and Copenhagen Kastrup. The jet features fifty-eight flat bed Business Class seats, and 557 standard Economy Class seats.

Air Austral (UU, St. Denis de la Réunion) committed to two 840-seat A380s in 2009 but has continuously deferred their deliveries, which were originally set for 2014. The Indian Ocean carrier had planned to use the all-Economy class jets on its St. Denis de la Réunion-Paris CDG flagship route but has since abandoned those plans in favour of using smaller, more flexible aircraft such as the B787-8.
