Αποτέλεσμα εικόνας για klm

For economic reasons, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has decided to temporarily suspend flights to Cairo effective 8 January 2017.
The devaluation of the Egyptian pound and the decision of the Central Bank of Egypt to impose restrictions on the transfer of foreign currency out of Egypt have a negative impact on results of KLM.
The final flight to Cairo (for the foreseeable future) will depart from Amsterdam on 6 January 2017, with the final flight returning to Amsterdam on 7 January 2017.
After suspension of the KLM service to Cairo, Air France -KLM will maintain its presence in the Egyptian capital, with Air France operating six weekly flights out of Paris.

KLM starts flights again to Tehran from 30OCT16

KLM says it will resume service to Tehran from October 30. Tehran will be the 14th new destination the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands has added to its network in 2016, Bahrain-based online business news and information portal Trade Arabia reported.

Four weekly services will be operated between Schiphol and Tehran, supplementing the Paris-Tehran service operated by Air France since April 16, 2016.

“KLM has further strengthened its network with a new destination – the 14th to be added this year. This confirms that our strategy is starting to bear fruit. On the one hand we are improving our efficiency and productivity, while on the other we are investing in growth,” said Pieter Elbers, KLM president and CEO.

The flights will be operated with a Boeing 777-200. KLM will meet passenger needs by offering three different travel classes on board: 34 seats in World Business Class, 40 seats in Economy Comfort, and 242 seats in Economy Class.

In the past, KLM operated service to Tehran from July 1991 through April 2013.

Including the new flights to Tehran, KLM now offers 37 flights to nine destinations in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Austrian Airlines, a subsidiary of Lufthansa recently announced plans to launch 3X-weekly Vienna-Isfahan services from September 4 as part of a new bilateral air transport agreement between Austria and Iran. In March Austrian expanded its Iran operations with the launch of a second daily Vienna-Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport service.

Lufthansa itself resumed flying non-stop from Munich to Tehran. Starting on July 4, the connection under flight number LH 602 began three times a week.

KLM B738 flight KL1147 at Amsterdam, rejected takeoff due to bird strike

Aug 9, 2016

A KLM Boeing 737-800, registration PH-BXV performing flight KL-1147 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Oslo (Norway), was accelerating for takeoff from Amsterdam's runway 36L when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed (about 135 knots over ground) reporting a bird strike. The aircraft slowed safely, taxied to the runway end to turn around to backtrack the runway and vacated the runway onto the first taxiway off the runway while emergency services responded.

The next departure already lined up waiting for departure was delayed by about 10 minutes until the Boeing 737-800 had vacated the runway and the runway had been inspected for possible bird debris.

About one hour after rejecting takeoff KL-1147 taxied to the apron with emergency services in trail, refueled for another hour and taxied to the holding point runway 36L. This time the aircraft departed without further incident and reached Oslo with a delay of 2.5 hours.

KLM B737 flight KL1374 at Amsterdam, flaps problem

A KLM Boeing 737-700, registration PH-BGF performing flight KL-1374 from Bucharest (Romania) to Amsterdam (Netherlands), was on final approach to Amsterdam's runway 18C when the crew received landing clearance on runway 18C but initiated a go around from 1000 feet MSL due to a flaps problem.

Tower, after a brief moment of surprise and with some agitation in the voice, cancelled the takeoff clearance from runway 24 just issued prior to the landing clearance, the crew acknowledged and advised they would be holding their position.

The KLM 737 climbed back to 3000 feet, positioned for another approach to runway 18C advising a normal landing would occur, and landed safely at about 154 knots over ground about 18 minutes after the go around.

A passenger reported the captain announced they had gone around due to a flaps problem, the problem was under control and a normal landing would occur. The passenger observed the slats were extended throughout the go around, reposition and landing, however, was unsure about the flap position. If the landing was at a higher speed than normal it did not feel as such.

KLM Will Soon Offer Draft beer on board

This post contains references to products from one or more of our advertisers. We may receive compensation when you click on links to those products. For an explanation of our Advertising Policy, visit this page.

It’s taken eight years of hard work, but KLM and Heineken have figured out how to serve beer from the tap on an airplane. Starting next month, you’ll be able to purchase a draft Heineken on select flights with the Dutch airline.

There were many challenges to overcome with respect to serving draft beer in the air. Airplane cabins have less air pressure than the ground, so there was some concern that the beer wouldn’t taste quite right. Further, space on board an aircraft is at a premium so a traditional keg would be too large and heavy, and anything smaller would cause the beer to be mostly foam.

To solve this problem, Heineken determined that it should leave out a cooling system within the keg cart. The small kegs will be cooled offsite and then delivered chilled to the plane. Heineken claims that its solution has allowed KLM to serve the exact same beer in the air as you can expect to find on the ground.

KLM isn’t the first airline to attempt serving beer from a tap on board an aircraft. Several years ago, ANA offered draft beer on select flights, but ended up eliminating the service.

KLM to take off from Dublin Airport for first time in 50 years | BreakingNews.ie

Airliner KLM will take off from Dublin Airport for the first time in half a century after sealing a deal on a new route to Amsterdam.
The Dutch flag carrier will start its twice daily service between the Irish capital and Schiphol Airport on October 30.
The flights will link into KLM's long haul routes, opening up "easy connections" to destinations such as Johannesburg, Havana, Beijing and Hong Kong, the airline says.
Return fares between Dublin and Amsterdam will be upwards of €99.
KLM was the first continental carrier to serve Dublin Airport in 1947. The airline pulled out in 1966 - 50 years ago this year.
Vincent Harrison, managing director of Dublin Airport, said the service was the 16th new route announced already this year under expansion plans.
"After five decades away, we're delighted to welcome KLM back to Dublin Airport," he said.
"This new service will offer enhanced choice and connectivity to passengers travelling to Amsterdam and also for those connecting to onward destinations from the Schiphol hub."
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, has said the announcement is “more good news for Irish tourism”.
“Today’s announcement by KLM is more good news for Irish tourism, as we head into the high season”, said Gibbons.
“Not only will it help grow visitor numbers from the Netherlands, but this new flight will offer connectivity from other important tourism markets, including North America, Asia and the Middle East. We look forward to co-operating with KLM to maximise the promotion of this new service from Amsterdam to Dublin.
“As an island, the importance of convenient, direct, non-stop flights cannot be overstated – they are absolutely critical to achieving growth in inbound tourism.”
Aer Lingus will continue to run two flights every day between Dublin and Amsterdam.

To Messenger δίνει την κάρτα επιβίβασης για τις πτήσεις της KLM Royal Dutch Airlines | Airnews

Το όνομά του εμπνεύστηκε από τις λέξεις Κοινωνική Αντίληψη και δράση για γνωστικά ρομπότ (Social situation-aware PErceptioN and action for CognitivE Robots).
