GoAir ready to start International flights

The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has awarded budget carrier GoAir its first international traffic rights following an application filed earlier this year.

According to the Hindustan Times, GoAir has been awarded the ensuing routes and frequencies:

• Mumbai Int'l or Delhi Int'l to Tehran Imam Khomeini (Iran) - 7x weekly;

• Mumbai or Delhi to Guangzhou or Kunming Changshui (China) - 7x weekly;

• Mumbai or Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) - 7x weekly;

• Mumbai or Delhi to Malé (Maldives) - 7x weekly;

• Mumbai or Delhi to Baku (Azerbaijan) - 3x weekly;

• Delhi to Tashkent Yuzhny (Uzbekistan)/Almaty (Kazakhstan) - 4x weekly;

• Kochi Int'l or Bangalore Int'l to Doha Hamad Int'l (Qatar) - 7x weekly;

• Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram/Hyderabad Int'l/Kannur to Dammam (Saudi Arabia) - 7x weekly.

GoAir is expected to begin international operations early next year provided the destination country grants it reciprocal rights and suitable landing slots.

As it stands, GoAir operates twenty-one A320 Family aircraft on flights to twenty-two destinations around India.

GoAir agreed with Airbus for 72 A320neo

GoAir (G8, Mumbai Int'l) has signed a preliminary agreement with Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the purchase of seventy-two A320neo twinjets during the ongoing 2016 Farnborough International Airshow.

The order, should it be finalized, will build on an existing one for seventy-two of the type, the first two of which have thus far been delivered.

"The new aircraft will help us in unlocking new domestic routes while providing a springboard for continued international network expansion in the years to come," airline CEO, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, said in the statement.

During the order's press conference, Prock-Schauer indicated a third of GoAir's neo fleet would be dedicated to international operations. Various destinations in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Southeast Asia are currently under review, he said.

Go Air operates nineteen A320-200s and two A320neo on scheduled passenger flights to twenty-two cities across India.

GoAir A320 at Delhi on Jul 9th 2016, lightning cracks windshield

A GoAir Airbus A320-200, registration VT-GOP performing flight G8-102 from Kolkata to Delhi (India) with 180 people on board, was in the initial descent towards Delhi, when lightning struck the aircraft resulting in a cracked windshield. The crew continued for a safe landing on Delhi's runway 10 about 30 minutes later.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 15 hours, then resumed service.

GoAir takes delivery of its first of 72 A320neo aircraft

Mumbai, India based GoAir has taken delivery of its first A320neo aircraft, becoming the world’s third operator to do so. The A320neo powered by Pratt and Whitney engines, is the first of 72 A320neo on order and joins GoAir’s existing fleet of 19 A320 aircraft.

The aircraft is configured in a conformable layout and is the first A320neo equipped with the innovative Spaceflex cabin configuration with 186 seats. GoAir currently flies to 22 Indian destinations. With the NEO induction, GoAir will expand its network and offer fliers better connectivity and continue its growth as one of India’s preferred low-cost airline.

GoAir’s first A320neo is the first of the type to be financed on a sale and leaseback through SMBC Aviation Capital.

The A320neo Family incorporates latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices, which together deliver more than 15 percent in fuel savings from day one and 20 percent by 2020 with further cabin innovations.

The A320neo Family is the world’s best-selling single aisle product line with over 4,500 orders from 82 customers since its launch in 2010 capturing almost 60 percent share of the market. Thanks to their widest cabin, all members of the A320neo Family offer unmatched comfort in all classes and Airbus’ 18” wide seats in economy as standard. To date, seven A320neo aircraft have been delivered to three customers.
