An ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 767-300, registration JA616A performing flight NH-823 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Taipei (Taiwan) with 191 people on board, was climbing through about FL200 when the left hand engine (CF6) failed prompting the crew to level off at FL220, shut the engine down and return to Tokyo for a safe landing on Narita's runway 16R about 40 minutes after departure.
A replacement Boeing 767-300 registration JA618A is estimated to reach Taipei with a delay of 3:45 hours.
