United B739 flight UA1275 at Los Angeles, flaps problems



A United Boeing 737-900, registration N69833 performing flight UA-1275 from Cancun (Mexico) to Los Angeles,CA (USA), was on approach to Los Angeles when the crew upon contacting final approach reported they needed to work on a "flaps situation". The aircraft entered a hold at 7000, later 6000 feet while the crew was working the related checklists without success however. The aircraft subsequently positioned for an approach to runway 25R and landed safely at a higher than normal speed (about 175 knots over ground).

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 11 hours before resuming service.
