A Jet Airways Boeing 737-800, registration VT-JGG performing flight 9W-531 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Mangalore (India) with 159 passengers and 7 crew, was in the initial climb out of Dubai's runway 12R at around 04:09L (00:09Z), with a delay of about 90 minutes, when the crew stopped the climb at 7500 feet reporting an engine (CFM56) needed to be shut down. The aircraft returned to Dubai for a safe landing on runway 12L about 25 minutes after departure.
The aircraft remained on the ground for 5 hours, then departed again and reached Mangalore with a delay of 6.5 hours.
The airline reported a technical issue that was rectified permitting the aircraft to depart again.
