Glasgow Airport has welcomed the launch of its latest new route as Korean Air commence direct flights between Scotland's largest city and Seoul, South Korea.
The inaugural flight departed from Glasgow Airport on 05 August 2016 with flights now operating on selected Fridays. The new Seoul to Glasgow route is already proving hugely popular with thousands of Korean tourists using the service to visit Glasgow and other major tourist draws in Western Scotland including Argyll & Bute, Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park and many of the country’s top whisky distilleries and golf courses.
The new route between Glasgow and Seoul further cements Glasgow Airport’s position as Scotland's gateway to world with direct flights to 22 exciting longhaul destinations including Dubai, Las Vegas, New York, Toronto and Vancouver. Glasgow Airports multi-award winning customer service, no drop-off charge, unrivalled choice of worldwide destinations and its central location with direct motorway access ensures the airport is the preferred choice for travellers from across Scotland including those in Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and beyond. Direct flights to Seoul are not available from any other Scottish airport and the new service is the first Scotland has ever offered direct to South Korea.
With a flight duration of 14 hours Korean Air's new Glasgow service is the longest flight operating from a Scottish airport and is the world's second longest Airbus A330 operated flight.
Amanda McMillan, Managing Director, Glasgow Airport, said: “Securing the country’s first direct service with South Korea is a significant step both for Glasgow Airport and Scotland’s tourism industry.
“We are honoured Korean Air and its sister company Hanjin Travel have chosen Glasgow Airport as their customers’ gateway to Scotland.
