Sichuan Airlines is starting flights in US from September after the green light of DOT

Sichuan Airlines (3U, Chengdu) has secured US regulatory clearance to commence scheduled passenger flights to the US East Coast later this quarter.

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) said in a statement that it had agreed to issue the China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) subsidiary exemption authority while tentatively agreeing to issue it a Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP).

Sichuan Airlines had asked that its application be expedited in light of plans to start Chengdu-Hangzhou-Los Angeles Int'l and Chengdu-Jinan-Los Angeles Int'l flights from September of this year onwards. In addition, it also announced plans to start regular flights from various points around China to Guam Int'l as well as Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands.
