Delta MD90 near Tulsa on Jul 9th 2016, contaminated cabin air injures 9 passengers



A Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-90, registration N955DN performing flight DL-1817 from Atlanta,GA to Denver,CO (USA) with 152 passengers, was enroute at FL300 about 80nm north of Tulsa,OK when a 12 passengers reported feeling unwell prompting the crew to divert to Tulsa for a safe landing about 20 minutes later. Several medical units responded, 9 passengers needed medical treatment.

Tulsa Medical Services reported the passengers showed increased levels of carbon monoxide, 9 passengers were treated at the airport suffering from the same symptoms including nausea, their levels of carbon monoxide normalized after getting outside of the aircraft and breathing fresh air and they recovered. Only one passenger was taken to a hospital unrelated to the carbon monoxide issue. The cause of the carbon monoxide increased levels is under investigation.

A replacement MD-90 registration N939DN reached Denver with a delay of 8.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 17 hours after landing.
