American flight AA1822 at West Palm Beach, fuel leak




An American Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration N108UW performing flight AA-1822 from West Palm Beach,FL to Philadelphia,PA (USA) with 138 people on board, was taxiing for departure from runway 10L on taxiway C parallel to runway 10L when a fuel leak prompted the crew to stop the aircraft between intersections taxiways C/A1 and C/C1. The aircraft was evacuated via slides. A flight attendant and 23 passeners received minor injuries and were taken to hospitals.

The flight was cancelled.

The airline reported a flight attendant and 23 passengers were taken to hospitals with burning eyes, itchy skin and difficulties breathing. 

Emergency services reported a number of passengers were complaining about neck and back injuries as result of coming down the slides, others complained about burning eyes, itchy skin and breathing difficulties.

The FAA reported the aircraft was evacuated via slides after an apparent fuel leak was detected.
