Eurowings launches long-haul flights to Boston | Breaking Travel News

Eurowings launches long-haul flights to BostonEurowings has launched flights to the United States with Boston, MA as its first North American destination.

The move comes as the carrier seeks to develop and expand its long-haul network.

This new flight will give Boston-area residents the opportunity to fly direct to Cologne and beyond.

Cologne, Germany’s fourth largest city, is at the centre of North-Rhine Westphalia, the country’s most populous state.

With a rich 2,000 year history, Cologne is a cultural hub for the arts and is known for its famous Cathedral and sweeping views of the Rhine river.

Today’s customers, whether traveling on short- or long-haul flights, are mainly looking for cheap airfare and reliable, direct flight connections.

A representative survey conducted by the Wahlen Research Group showed that these two criteria are currently considered the most important when choosing a flight.

As a result, Eurowings, which is part of the Lufthansa Group, is expanding its offer of low-cost direct flights not only in European travel, but also on long-haul routes.

“By offering low-cost direct flights, we are following a strong trend, one which is also quickly being confirmed by our customers on long-haul routes,” said Oliver Wagner, chief executive, Eurowings.

“The new long-haul flights to popular holiday destinations, such as Thailand or Cuba, are more than 90 percent booked.”

Six months after the initial launch with two Airbus A330 long-haul aircraft, the Eurowings intercontinental fleet has increased in size to four long-haul Airbus aircraft.
