Austrian Airlines has decided to accept the critical voices from the aviation comunity as well as its customers and drop the "my" out of its new aircraft livery. Early in 2015 Austrian introduced a new livery on its first aircraft, which triggered an immediate wave of criticism. Many people have considered the new house name "myAustrian" to look cheap and reminded people more of a low-cost airline than a premium service national carrier. Besides that it looked plain ugly. However, now it seems common sense has prevailed even amongst Austrian Airlines top managment.
The speaker of Austrian Airlines Peter Thier has announced yesterday on a presentation held for the Vienna Airport Friends comunity, that only one more aircraft will have the myAustrian house name. The aircraft in question is an Airbus A319 with registration OE-LDE, currently undergoing repaint at the AirLivery paint shop in Bratislava. The next Airbus is due for paint next week and it should be the first one without the "my" in the house name. With OE-LDE included, there will be a total of 7 aircraft which will have the myAustrian livery applied - 1 A321, 1 A319, 1 ERJ-195, 1 Dash 8-Q400, 2 B767-300 and one B777-200.
