- Norwegian started services between Helsinki (HEL) and Dubai (DXB) on 19 November. The 4,535-kilometre sector will operate with a daily rotation flown by 737-800s. The route will face direct competition from Finland’s national carrier Finnair which operates a six times weekly service according to OAG Schedules Analyser data. Flights leave Helsinki at 17:55 arriving into the UAE mega-hub at 02:50 the next morning. The return journey leaves Dubai at 04:00 arriving back into the Finnish capital at 08:55. Norwegian also offers seasonal services to Dubai from Copenhagen and Stockholm Arlanda. With two carriers now linking Helsinki with Dubai, how long before Emirates decides to enter the market? Maybe surprisingly, none of the MEB3 carriers currently serve the Finnish capital.
