Rome Ciampino Airport closes for runway constructions in October


Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA) will be temporarily closed from late Oct. 14 through Oct. 29 for runway maintenance and upgrades. According to CIA, maintenance work will be carried out on a 24/7 basis on parts of runway 15/33, at various junctions and taxiways.
Throughout this period, flights will be transferred to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO).
Hungarian low-cost carrier (LCC) Wizz Air and Irish LCC Ryanair, which normally operate from Ciampino, plan to operate from FCO Terminal 2 during this period.
Ryanair said it canceled a number of flights.
