United Airlines begins nonstop San Francisco-Hangzhou with Boeing 787-9


United Airlines inaugurated service to its fifth mainline China destination July 13 with the 2:20 pm PST departure of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight UA 982, flying nonstop from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) bound for a 6:10 p.m. local time (next-day) arrival at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH).
Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province on China’s southeastern coast,  home to nearly 9 million people and dubbed “China’s Silicon Valley,” is the fifth new international route United has launched from San Francisco since May (the other routes being  Auckland, New Zealand; Singapore; Tel Aviv, Israel; and Xi'an, China).
United will operate 3X-weekly nonstop flights from SFO, utilizing the 787-9 Dreamliner, Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The flight time westbound will be 12 hours, 55 minute.  UA 983, the return flight, will depart Hangzhou at 10:55am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and land at San Francisco at 7:50 a.m. on the same days. The flight time eastbound will be 11 hours, 55 minutes.
"The Hangzhou service is a great addition to our growing portfolio of mainland China destinations, including three interior cities that no other airline serves from the United States," United VP Atlantic and Pacific sales Marcel Fuchs said.
