A Flydubai Boeing 737-800, registration A6-FDP performing flight FZ-867 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Dammam (Saudi Arabia), was on approach to Dammam when the crew stopped the descent at 6000 feet because the flaps would not extend. The crew worked the related checklists without resolving the issue, burned off fuel and landed safely on runway 34R at a higher than normal speed (about 190 knots over ground) about one hour after stopping the descent at 6000 feet.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Dammam about 4 hours after landing, the return flight FZ-868 is currently being delayed.
