A Germania Airbus A319-100, registration D-ASTR performing flight ST-2054 from Kassel (Germany) to Heraklion (Greece) with 99 passengers, was accelerating for takeoff from Kassel's runway 27 when an engine (CFM56) ingested a bird prompting the crew to reject takeoff at high speed. The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron.
A replacement A319-100 registration D-ASTC reached Heraklion with a delay of 4.5 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 10 hours after rejecting takeoff.
