SAS SK4478 B737 diverted to Banak, asymmetric flaps

A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration LN-TUM performing flight SK-4478 from Oslo to Kirkenes (Norway), was descending towards Kirkenes (runway length 2120 meters/6340 feet) when the crew stopped the descent at 5000 feet due to a problem with the flaps extension. The crew subsequently decided to divert to Banak (Norway), runway length 2790 meters/9150 feet, climbed the aircraft to FL160 and prepared the aircraft for a partial flaps up landing. The aircraft landed safely on Banak's runway 35 at a higher than normal speed (about 180 knots over ground) and taxied to the apron.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 19 hours, then positioned to Oslo and resumed service out of Oslo.
